'King Of The Roadies' Reality Series Captures Life On The Road With DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED
January 8, 2013A one-minute preview clip of "King Of The Roadies", a half-hour reality series that follows Tom Mayhue, GUNS N' ROSES' longtime production manager, and his professional road crew on tour with DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED, can be seen below. The footage was captured by West Seattle filmmaker Jamie Chamberlin who joined DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED on their European tour in June 2011.
"It's like 'Deadliest Catch', but this is about guys who live behind the scenes of the rock tours with drama, personalities, guitar techs, pushing cases, moving stuff," Chamberlin told the West Seattle Herald. "The main character or the reality show is Tom Mayhue, a really well-known tour manager who has been with GUNS N' ROSES."
Tom is the haggard, surly and hilarious production manager and "King Of The Roadies" captures life on the road with Tom and his merry band of miscreants. Traveling from city to city, "King Of The Roadies" provides an unprecedented, occasionally gritty and always entertaining look into the backstage world of rock 'n' roll's hardest working and hardest playing employees. Nothing is off limits as "King Of The Roadies" gives viewers an all access pass into green rooms, dress rehearsals, tour buses and even day's off.
And with a character like Tom Mayhue running things, you can bet that onstage won't be the only place where things get wild.
For rock 'n' roll's "King Of The Roadies", life happens late at night after the curtain comes down and well before it has to come up again, so naturally things can get a little hectic and out of control. From groupies and their baggage to parties and their excess, "King Of The Roadies" bares all as it delivers its honest brand of rock 'n' roll storytelling. But regardless of what happens backstage, Tom makes damn sure that the show goes on, so his crew know enough to go hard or go home.
